NEN
1996/97
for
clarinet solo
The compositorial starting point for “Nen” were
thoughts on different perspectives of “moments” - “Nen” (chinese) means
“the timeless micro-moment. Extensions und contractions of structural moments,
the split up of different kinds of time-moments in several, independent
time-levels as well as spatial projections of various tone (colour)-moments
were in the centre of attention.
Also the question on the before - behind, another
perspective of the concept “moment”will be reflected in a composed coda.
These coda refer as a subsummation to a ‘former being’ or combines musical
structures/ material, which never has been used in the piece. In this meaning
the coda for itself is a foreign body. But because the coda explores as
a part of the macro-time structure of the piece and will be related to
her temporal-acoustic environment, it loses its basic meaning.
